With runners on first and second, the runners broke on a pitch that Blake lined to short, with both runners then easily doubled off. It was the first triple play the Dodgers had hit into since Aug. 4, 1991 at Houston and the first triple play at Dodger Stadium since Colorado's Kurt Abbott hit a liner back at Dodgers pitcher Darren Dreifort on June 13, 1998.
--LHP Brent Leach, who posted a 0.69 ERA in 13 appearances for Class AA Chattanooga (Tenn.) while striking out 17 batters in 13 innings, received his first major-league call-up on Saturday. He was recalled to take the roster spot of Hong-Chih Kuo, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left elbow. Leach, the Dodgers' sixth-round pick in the 2005 amateur draft out as a college senior, was added to the 40-man roster this past winter. BY THE NUMBERS: 10 -- Consecutive home wins to begin the season for the Dodgers, the most in franchise history. The 1946 Brooklyn Dodgers won their first nine games at Ebbets Field. The start also ties the modern-day National League record held by the 1983 Atlanta Braves (also managed by Joe Torre), the 1970 Chicago Cubs and the 1918 New York Giants. The major-league record for consecutive home wins to start a season is 12 by the 1911 Detroit Tigers.
