Plans to play a Mexican League Baseball game at Dodger Stadium have been postponed until 2010.
The game between the Diablos Rojos of Mexico City and the Sultanes of Monterrey had been scheduled for May 16. On May 1, the game was postponed in connection with the week-long closure of the Mexican League offices because of the swine flu outbreak. The Los Angeles Dodgers and two Mexican League teams announced today that the game, dubbed "La Serie Azul," will be rescheduled for a date to be determined in 2010, "due to the ongoing uncertainty of Mexican League games," and the schedules of the three teams.
"We are committed to our partnership with the Mexican League and to fully supporting further development of Baseball internationally," Dodger Director of International Relations Joseph Reaves said.
"While we were excited to present La Serie Azul this season, we were unable to set a date that worked as perfectly as the original plan for all three clubs and we feel next season we will be able to introduce La Serie Azul as a first-of-its kind event just as it was designed to be."
All tickets that were purchased will be refunded automatically if bought with a credit card, the Dodgers announced.
Tickets purchased with cash or check can be refunded by returning the ticket to the place of purchase.
