Anyway, the day couldn't have started much better for Rollins, who ripped Chad Billingsley 's first pitch for a double, went to third on Shane Victorino 's sacrifice bunt, and scored on Ryan Howard 's sacrifice fly.

In that at-bat, Rollins was the leadoff hitter that manager Charlie Manuel has come to expect.

The rest of the game didn't go quite so well. Rollins fouled out, struck out, and grounded out twice to second. The Gold Glove winner also made an error that led to a Dodgers run. It was the Phillies' first error in six games.

Baserunning blunder Cole Hamels said he should not be allowed to run the bases, and the lefthander provided evidence when he wandered too far off first base in the fifth inning, which resulted in Carlos Ruiz getting caught in an inning-ending rundown.

"I was more anticipating a ground ball, and just wanted to at least make it a challenge to break up a double play," Hamels said. "Unfortunately, I looked pretty foolish out there. I don't think I put the team in a good situation because we had Chase [ Utley ] coming up, and all I had to do was stay at first and give him a chance."

Hamels broke for second when Shane Victorino struck out.

"That's a bad mistake at a tough time for us," Manuel said. "We've been making mistakes like that."

Extra bases Lefthander J.A. Happ will get his first start of the season in the night game of tomorrow's day-night doubleheader against Washington at Nationals Park. . . .
